BRIEFLY EXPLAINED · FROM FAULT TO REPAIR

Understand what is being repaired.

01

What do you notice?

The engine runs roughly, individual cylinders are inactive or an entire cylinder group cuts out. Diagnostics may report, for example, “Unit pump: valve not reaching stop.”

02

What might be damaged?

The unit pump is not receiving its electrical switching pulse correctly. This may be caused by a defective output stage in the PLD – or an external fault in the pump or wiring harness.

03

How do we fix it?

We isolate the electronic damage and repair the affected output stage at component level. The existing data is intended to be preserved.

04

How is it checked?

Findings, channel comparisons and final electrical checks are documented in the workshop report. It records which functions were tested on the unit and what must subsequently be checked on the vehicle.

For a lasting result.

For a lasting result, the cause outside the control unit must also be fixed. A shorted unit pump or damaged wiring must not overload the repaired output stage again.

01

What does a TEMIC PLD do?

PLD stands for pump-line-nozzle. Simply put, this electronic unit controls when the unit pumps inject fuel. If electrical control fails, a single cylinder or an entire cylinder bank can stop firing – even though the pump itself is not necessarily the cause. MR refers to engine management.

02

Our repair case: defective unit-pump output stage

On a TEMIC PLD 001, we identified a defective power transistor in the unit-pump control circuit. This electronic switch is part of the output stage that drives the load. Component faults like this are the focus of our repairs. Not every PLD with the same symptom has the same damage, so diagnosis comes before repair.

03

What we repair for 390 €

The retail price of 390 € including 19% VAT covers the agreed repair of a defective unit-pump output stage in a suitable original unit. Other damage, data transfer or a replacement unit are separate services. We agree on inspection and shipping costs and turnaround time before you place the order.

04

Keep your original unit

Repairing your own control unit can avoid the purchase of a replacement and a complex data transfer. Existing vehicle data is generally retained during hardware-only repairs. Whether additional programming or work on the vehicle is needed depends on the findings.

05

Minimize downtime

First, send a photo of the identification label and the complete fault memory report. We clarify the repair scope and possible schedule before you ship. You can then securely package and ship the removed control unit or drop it off in Bammental by arrangement.

FAULT CODES · DTC · OBD

Common fault codes and their meanings.

These codes are frequently read during inquiries about this system. A DTC identifies the detected deviation – the actual cause emerges only from the vehicle, software version, fault status and measured values.

Individual unit pumps / cylinders

15026 / 15126 / 15226
Cylinder 1 / 2 / 3: unit pump – valve not reaching stop
15326 / 15426 / 15526
Cylinder 4 / 5 / 6: unit pump – valve not reaching stop

Common return / cylinder bank

24806 / 4806
Unit-pump return, bank 1: short to ground
24906 / 4906
Unit-pump return, bank 2: short to ground

Internal fault / power supply

04024
Internal control unit fault
07543
Battery or supply voltage too low

Fault descriptions and wording may vary by diagnostic tool. Always send the complete report. A code alone does not prove a control unit failure: the pump, wiring, connector or power supply may also be the cause.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Well informed in advance.

How much does TEMIC PLD repair cost at CT Performance?

Repairing a defective unit-pump output stage costs 390 € including 19% VAT. We confirm the appropriate scope using the part number and symptoms. Other damage and inspection and shipping costs are agreed in advance.

My truck is running on only three cylinders. Could the control unit be responsible?

Yes. In addition to pumps and wiring, the output stage or common return in the PLD may be responsible. Multiple unit-pump control faults warrant targeted inspection, but do not yet prove an internal defect.

Do I need to bring the entire vehicle?

For an agreed control unit repair, the removed PLD can be shipped or dropped off. Wiring harness and unit-pump checks and post-installation verification are performed on the vehicle.

Does the repaired original unit need to be relearned?

Existing data is normally retained during hardware-only repairs. Damaged data, a replacement unit or other vehicle faults may require additional work. We discuss this after diagnosis.

Which part numbers are important?

Please photograph the complete identification label with the Mercedes and TEMIC numbers and hardware version. Examples from known applications include Mercedes 0001501479 / TEMIC 3x0789 and Mercedes 0014462040 / TEMIC 00004647A4. The number alone does not guarantee repairability.

How long does repair take?

We agree on a schedule after identifying the unit and fault. Parts availability, previous damage and additional inspections determine the actual turnaround time.

What goes in the package?

The agreed control unit, page 1 of the completed and signed repair order and any available diagnostic reports. Other accessories only by arrangement. Package the unit dry, protected against electrostatic discharge and impact-resistant.

What if repair is not possible?

We report our findings and agree on the next step. Depending on the damage, data transfer to a compatible replacement may be possible. Please do not buy a replacement before checking the numbers with us.
