BRIEFLY EXPLAINED · FROM FAULT TO REPAIR
Turn signals and power windows do not respond, lights stay on or the footwell module cannot be reached by diagnostics. This is often noticed after a dead battery or battery replacement.
Internal memory data in the FRM3 can become corrupted. A single failed lighting output, however, may be a short-circuit lockout. Data errors, lockouts and hardware defects require different solutions.
We identify the FRM variant and assess the data condition. For a suitable standard fault, we restore the module data. Hardware or moisture damage is assessed separately.
Data access and module communication are checked and documented. After installation, lights, turn signals and power windows are tested on the vehicle; required initializations depend on the version.
The battery and vehicle voltage must be stable. With a short-circuit lockout, the defective load or wiring must be repaired before the output is re-enabled.
01 / SERVICE
Depending on the vehicle, the FRM controls lighting, turn signals and power windows, among other functions. If the module fails, several seemingly unrelated functions may be affected at once. You will find the FRM version on the label.
An unresponsive FRM3 with corrupted memory data is a different case from a single blocked lighting output. We distinguish data errors, output lockouts and hardware defects, and choose the appropriate procedure.
The price applies to the agreed standard repair on a suitable original module, including VAT and standard return shipping. Corrosion, destroyed components, replacement modules and additional coding are quoted separately if needed. Express return shipping is available by arrangement for an additional 20 €.
If the original data is successfully restored, the existing module can continue to be used. A used FRM, however, must match the vehicle version and may require programming or coding. Please check replacement parts before buying.
FAULT CODES · DTC · OBD
These codes are frequently read during inquiries about this system. A DTC identifies the detected deviation – the actual cause emerges only from the vehicle, software version, fault status and measured values.
These messages are clues, not automatic confirmation of repair suitability. A single lighting output may also have a short-circuit lockout; the external fault must be repaired first.

02 / PROCESS
Send the model, model year, a legible identification label and diagnostic report. We identify the unit and repair scope.
Agree on price and timing, complete the appropriate PDF order form and package the module with protection against electrostatic discharge and impacts.
We document the repair and inspection scope. After installation, the workshop checks vehicle operation and addresses possible external causes.

The classic data fault particularly affects FRM3. Other generations and different hardware faults are assessed separately using the part number and diagnostics.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Yes. Low voltage or an interrupted internal process can be associated with a data error. We therefore check the module's condition and recommend checking the battery and electrical system before reinstallation.
Not necessarily. The lamp, wiring or a blocked output may also be responsible. Blanket replacement or a data reset does not fix an external short circuit.
After restoring the existing original data, complete recoding is often unnecessary. Replacement modules, changed data or a different version may require additional work.
In many of the listed BMW and MINI versions, it is in the driver's footwell behind the side trim. The exact removal procedure depends on the vehicle and should be carried out professionally.
