TEMIC PLD: a look at a defective unit-pump output stage

A TEMIC PLD 001 from our everyday workshop work: what a defective output stage has to do with injection.

What we found on this unit

A defective power transistor was identified in the unit-pump control circuitry of this TEMIC PLD 001. The photo shows the electronics of the opened original unit from our Bammental workshop.

Why this finding matters to the customer

The engine control unit switches the unit pumps electrically. A faulty output stage can therefore contribute to missing control signals. Findings on the unit help distinguish whether the electronics need work or the cause lies outside the control unit. Similar symptoms on another vehicle do not necessarily mean the same damage.

What needs to be done before reinstallation

Pumps, wiring, connectors and power supply must be checked according to the symptoms. Otherwise, an external fault can overload the repaired electronics again. Functional testing on the vehicle is therefore part of the final assessment.
